Born in Istanbul in 1978, Doğrusöz currently lives and works in Beirut

Appropriating and recuperating the historical and geographical substrate of a more or less distant past, Barış Doğrusöz creates works that interrogate the notion of territory, border and scale, whether physical or symbolic, and examine how fragmented elements such as found footage, military material, archeological artifacts and codes operate as a prequel or premonition for a near future fiction, His projects have taken the form of audiovisual installations, films, sculptural elements, graphic works, photographs and drawings.

Doğrusöz's works has been presented in exhibitions, festivals and symposia at ARTER Istanbul (2019), Depo Istanbul (2019), Sursock Museum Beirut (2019), Sharjah Art Foundation (2018); Beirut Art Center (2018); Carré d'Art - Musée d'art contemporary, Nimes (2018); KADIST, Paris (2017); Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017); 3rd Nanjing International Art Festival (Academic Award) , Nanjing Museum, China (2017); 44th Salon Nacional de Artista, Perreira, Colombia (2016); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Netherlands (2016); Asia Culture Center, Gwangju (2015); nGBK, Berlin (2015); SALT Beyoğlu, Istanbul (2015); Crossing Borders, University of Saint Andrews, Scotland (2014); San Sebastian International Film Festival (2012), Oberhausen International Film Festival (2011); Istanbul International Film Festival (2010), among others.
